Serica Technologies will have to add a couple of new offices to its executive suite, after creating two new slots on its management team.
The Medford, Mass.-based firm, which is developing silk-based biomaterials for tissue repair, named John Gross vice president of medical affairs for plastic surgery and Ramesh Rao vice president of advance manufacturing.
Gross, a surgery professor at the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles, is already on Serica’s clinical advisory board. He’s a former plastiuc surgery chief at the Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center.
Rao is the former director of manufacturing engineering for Hologic Inc. and has 15 years of experience in manufacturing, process engineering, quality control and assurance, plant management and supply-chain operations.
In February, Serica won 510(k) approval from the FDA for its SeriScaffold silk-based surgical mesh.
