Roche (PINK:RHHBY) said yesterday it launched its Accu-Check Guide next-generation blood glucose monitoring system, with an initial launch in Denmark, Switzerland and Australia.
The new system features the company’s SmartPack” spill-resistant test strip vial designed to avoid strip spillage or contamination.
“As the global leader in diabetes management we are dedicated to supporting people with diabetes, in thinking less about their daily therapy routines. We are very excited to introduce this innovative system, that simplifies blood glucose monitoring and improves the testing experience,” Roche Ddiagnostics CEO Roland Diggelmann said in a press release
Roche said the Accu-Chek Guide system is designed with on-bard pattern detection to increase awareness of high or low glucose readings as well as Bluetoothconnectivity to the company’s Accu-Chek Connect diabetes management cloud-based platform.
In May, Senseonics (OTC:SENH) said it inked an exclusive distribution agreement with Roche for the multi-country commercialization of the Eversense continuous glucose monitor.
Under the deal, Roche has the exclusive rights to promote, market and sell the Eversense product portfolio to diabetes clinics and patients in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands, Senseonics said.
The Eversense system includes an implanted glucose sensor designed to last up to 90 days, as well as a wearable smart transmitter designed to calculate glucose levels. The devices work in tandem with a mobile application that allows for the real-time display of glucose readings, the company said.
