Reverse Medical won European approval for its MVP Micro Vascular Plug system for peripheral artery embolization and the company signed a deal with Century Medical for distribution of its products in Japan.
The Irvine, Calif.-based company said the 1st patient was treated with its vascular plug in Europe, which has been approved to decrease blood flow in the peripheral vasculature. The company touts its device as "completely re-sheathable" for procedures where the patient only needs a temporary reduction of blood flow, according to a statement.
The privately held neurovascular company also inked a deal with distributor Century Medical for its products in Japan. A company statement said the partnership will help move the Reverse’s Barrel Vascular Reconstruction Device, MVP embolization device and other products through the island-nation’s regulatory process.
"The depth and strength of CMI’s network throughout Japan will greatly assist Reverse Medical in developing a leadership role in treating patients with complex Neurovascular disorders. CMI has made a significant financial commitment to both Reverse, and to funding the regulatory approval process for the Reverse products in Japan," CEO Jeffrey Valko said in the release.
