
PLC Systems touts $1M now, $1M later for RenalGuard trials
Milford, Mass.-based PLC Systems raised $1 million in funding to support U.S. clinical trials for its RenalGuard system, designed to help prevent contrast-induced nephropathy in at-risk patients undergoing certain cardiac and vascular imaging procedures.
RenalGuard has CE Mark approval in the European Union and won FDA approval for U.S. trials in October.
The device maker is expecting to raise another $1 million in 2 additional payments of $500,000 each over the next 6 months through sales of senior secured convertible notes and warrants, according to a press release.

Hands-free workflow solutions maker eMerge Health closes seed round with $850k
eMerge Health Solutions closed its seed round of funding with $850,000 raised among investors including CincyTech, a state-supported venture development group, as well as private individuals.
The company, which launched in May 2011 with a $650,000 investment, is developing voice-activated intra-operative endoscopic workflow systems that allow healthcare providers to document procedures in real time and distribute records throughout a medical facility.
