Technology giant Philips (NYSE:PHG) awarded a 10-year contract for continuous access of its ultrasound devices to the cardiology department at Medical Center Leeuwarden, a teaching hospital in the Netherlands.

The Dutch hospital will also receive training services and periodic structural upgrades as part of the deal. The ultrasound devices will be used by cardiologists to perform diagnostic tests and minimally-invasive procedures.

Philips champions the deal as part of a changing business strategy as the company transforms from a tech provider to a more wholistic consulting and services provider, RTT News reported.

The Dutch healthcare company has already penned more than 30 managed service agreements around the globe, according to the report.

As part of the most recent deal with Medical Center Leeuwarden, Philips is slated to provide the clinic with its iE33 echocardiography system, its CX50 mobile ultrasound system and, early in 2014, its newer EPIQ ultrasound imaging platform.
