
Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE:PHG) is adding a robotic system to its treatment options for clogged heart arteries in a new pact with Natick, Mass.-based Corindus Inc.
The two companies entered what they’re calling an "alliance agreement" in which Philips adds Corindus’ robotic-assisted system for the minimally invasive treatment of obstructed coronary arteries to its offering of cardiology devices percutaneous coronary intervention. Corindus’ technology complements Philips’ offering of interventional imaging and clinical informatics products, the comapnies said.
The financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, but Philips did acquire a minority stake in Corindus, according to the companies.

North Carolina life sciences company Entegrion has licensed its blood-clotting bandage to newly formed Chicago company Beeken BioMedical. Research Triangle Park-based Entegrion developed the bandage, called Stasilon, which is made of a proprietary weave of glass and bamboo fibers, two materials that promote clotting, writes MedCity News.
