Philips highlights how it is bringing AI to MR

Philips (NYSE:PHG) today announced a range of artificial intelligence (AI)-based offerings it plans to present at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2023.

The Amsterdam-based medtech giant plans to showcase its MR5300 and MR 7700 offerings, as well as its Spectral CT 7500 and Incisive CT with CT Smart Workflow. It also intends to highlight its DXR Smart Workflow, Ultrasound Compact 5000, Ultimate Ultrasound for liver assessment and EPIQ Elite.

MR 5300, powered by AI, simplifies and automates complex clinical and operational tasks to boost MR productivity. It also speeds up exam time and enhances clinical decision-making.

The MR 7700 offers enhanced imaging and speed to support confident diagnosis. It features up to 35% shorter scan time with higher diffusion image quality for all anatomies. MR 7700 also allows radiologists to image six different clinically relevant nuclei across all anatomies.

Spectral CT 7500 reduces the number of exams and related costs and relieves the burden on radiology departments, Philips said. The company’s AI-enabled smart workflows, like Incisive CT, also support operator consistency and diagnostic confidence. Other workflow platforms like the Philips DXR increase the number of patients examined per day, shorten wait times and decrease time to diagnosis.

Philips said it plans to debut the Ultrasound Compact System 5000 next-generation portable compact ultrasound solution. With AI-powered automation tools and shorter exam times, the system can go to the patient wherever they are in the hospital.

The Ultimate Ultrasound for liver assessment allows clinicians to track liver health and enable early intervention. EPIQ Elite brings Philips’ “ultimate” solutions to ultrasound with clinically tailored tools, the company said.

Philips to debut integrated radiology workflows

In addition to the workflow enhancements in MR and CT, Philips plans to show off its Advanced Visualization Workspace and Radiology Workflow Orchestrator.

The AI-based AVW features more than 70 clinical applications for first-time-right clinical insights and cost savings. RWO, another AI-powered offering, uses intelligent algorithms to determine and deliver the right case to the most appropriate, available radiologists.

Philips also has plans for its Imaging Rochestrator – ROCC telepresence solution and the Ultrasound Collaboration Live for secure talk, text, screen-sharing and video streaming from ultrasound to PC or mobile device. These offerings allow for more collaboration, extending teams without expanding.

Even more on display

The remainder of Philips’ highlights at ECR include its Vue PACS, Radiology Information System, Enterprise Performance Analytics, MR Workspace and more.

Vue PACS drives efficient workflows and easy image sharing capability from a single source. Radiology Information System allows for entering, storing, viewing, managing and transferring patient information.

The Philips Enterprise Performance Analytics platform features vendor-neutral, real-time data analytics and workflow solutions. MR Workspace offers a control room engine with quality and easy scalability across the enterprise. The AI-enabled solution simplifies the path from image acquisition to diagnosis.

Philips said it plans to show how it combines the power of AI with deep clinical knowledge to integrate into workflows. Its interactive multimedia reporting helps to cut reporting turnaround times and eliminate the need for typing and entry of patient or clinical context.
