- CareFusion grabs ResMed CEO Gallahue
CareFusion Corp. (NYSE:CFN), a global, medical technology company, appointed Kieran Gallahue as chairman and CEO, succeeding David Schlotterbeck who previously announced plans to retire, effective Feb. 28. A seasoned medical-technology executive, Gallahue, 47, was president, CEO and director of ResMed (NYSE:RMD), a maker of medical equipment for treating, diagnosing and managing sleep-related respiratory disorders.
Gallahue resigned from his three positions at ResMed, effective Jan 28. The ResMed board appointed company founder and executive chairman Dr. Peter Farrell to serve as interim CEO and president. Dr. Farrell will also continue to serve as executive chairman of the board of directors. ResMed does not anticipate any material change in strategy or operations as a result of this management change, according to ResMed.

Hungerford joins the organization as a result of his participation in the recent financing round at Access Scientific (ASI). Hungerford is CEO of Axiom, an early-stage investment company specializing in medical devices and services. He is also the founder and CEO of SIGMA International, which designs and manufactures smart infusion pumps for hospitals and professional care settings throughout the U.S.
