Osseon Therapeutics Inc. signed a distribution agreement with Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) subsidiary DePuy Spine Inc.
The deal grants Raynham, Mass.-based DePuy the right to the U.S. distribution and marketing of Osseon’s Osseoflex steerable needle and Confidence spinal cement system. Osseon still plans to maintain a direct sales force for the products in "strategic territories" in the U.S. and Europe, according to a press release.
The Osseoflex needle is designed to allow doctors to navigate vertebrae during treatment for compression fractures, to deliver spinal cement into the fissure, according to the release.
Santa Rosa, Calif.-based orthopedic device maker Osseon announced the deal today in Orlando, Fla., at the North American Spine Society meeting
