In April, Olympus completed the separation of its Scientific Solutions Division into a wholly-owned subsidiary called Evident. The move aimed to provide more room to focus on the continued growth of the company’s Medical Business.
Evident’s new APAC headquarters leads the company’s strategy, technology and innovation in the region. According to a news release, that includes operations in Australia, New Zealand, India and Korea. Evident’s expansion doubled its headcount in Singapore since the beginning of 2022 alone.
“With a rich history in developing leading-edge imaging, inspection and measurement solutions, we are poised to pursue sustainable growth in the life science and industrial fields,” said Akio Hirohashi, chief strategy officer at Evident and head of the company’s APAC China businesses. “We aim to become more agile by integrating smart technologies in our solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of our customers.”
Plans for the Evident APAC HQ
The company plans to further expand its APAC presence with new job openings. That includes roles in sales and marketing, service, technical and R&D. The company manufactures life science and industrial microscopes. It also makes videoscopes, nondestructive testing (NDT) equipment and X-ray fluorescence analyzers.
Evident said it plans to strengthen its core business for the next phase of growth. This expansion offers greater agility and adaptability, it added. The new headquarters features a technology center to expand NDT solutions with robotics, automation and system integration.
It also incorporates a microscopy center with a range of equipment, along with a dedicated service and repair center. Other features include an omni theater for immersive experiences, a greenscreen studio and a mix of permanent and hot desks for flexibility in hybrid work.
“We designed the new headquarters to be employee-centric to foster a positive and engaging work environment. This facility will be home to our Evident Singapore colleagues and become the center of excellence, collaboration and inspiration for our Evident APAC colleagues,” said Jack Zhang Feng, head of the strategy management office at Evident APAC and GM of Evident Singapore.
