In 2024, the companies announced a partnership to collaborate on endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) technology. The partnership centered around Aplio i800 as the companies looked to provide the market with advanced EUS equipment for high-quality image diagnoses.
Aplio i800 EUS is manufactured by Canon and distributed exclusively by Olympus. It joins Olympus’ comprehensive portfolio of endoscopes and endotherapy devices. The system supports high-quality imaging and confident clinical assessment in a wide range of EUS procedures.
Canon’s ultrasound platform delivers imaging technology that supports the diagnosis of hepato-pancreato-biliary conditions. Those include liver and pancreatic diseases, which can prove challenging to diagnose due to complex anatomical locations.
Aplio i800 supports efficient operation in the procedure room through an adaptable design. It enables clinicians to tailor the system to their procedural needs and user preferences. The system’s capabilities span liver, pancreatic and gastrointestinal procedures.
Features include differentiated tissue harmonic imaging (D-THI) to expand the effective bandwidth of the platform. This simultaneously achieves increased penetration and high resolution with sensitivity in both superficial and deep regions. Additionally, the quick scan feature allows automatic gain adjustment for uniform imaging with one click. The system also has full focus, which supports clear, uniform imaging from near to far field without manual focus adjustments.
