PRC Medical LLC, which provides technology and practice management services to doctors, was awarded a $1.7 million loan from the state of Ohio.
The Akron-based company will use the loan to help fund a $2.3 million software development project that will create 126 jobs and retain another 60, according to a statement from the Ohio Dept. of Development.
The state funding comes through the Innovation Ohio Loan Fund, a program designed to help companies develop next-generation products. The program is designed to finance up to 75 percent of a project’s costs to a maximum of $2 million and a minimum of $500,000, according to the Dept. of Development.

PRC’s mission is to “help doctors get paid for what they do.” To that end, the company offers a number of services, including medical coding, practice management, and streamlining of the billing and claims processes.
The company also has developed an electronic health records software package called StreamlineEHR. The EHR business is a good one to be in these days, thanks to billions of dollars in government incentives aimed at enticing doctors to adopt electronic health records.
