NxStage Medical Inc. (NSDQ:NXTM) broadened its stake in the Italian dialysis market with a Spindial S.p.A. distribution deal.
The Lawrence, Mass.-based company inked a five-year agreement for renal care product distributor Spindial S.p.A. to sell NxStage’s System One hemodialysis treatment system in Italy.
The deal also calls for Spindial to begin selling NxStage‘s PureFlow dialysate preparation system, Medisystems bloodlines and ButtonHole needles to dialysis providers across the boot-shaped peninsula.
The agreement is only the latest deal for NxStage. In April, the company expanded an agreement with Renal Advantage Inc. to provide hemodialysis supplies to another 43 dialysis centers, and it inked a three-year supply deal with Reliant Renal Care Inc. in September 2009 to provide its blood tubing sets and safety needles to Reliant’s network of 12 dialysis centers. In May 2009, NxStage signed a $40 million deal with Asahi Kasei Kuraray Medical to private-label its dialyzer under the Asahi name in return for debt financing and the supply of Asahi’s line of high-performance polysulfone hollow-fiber membranes.
