Group purchasing organization Novation negotiated a sweeping deal for a new line of wound closure devices that includes a group of top suppliers, such as 3M Co. (NYSE:MMM), Applied Medical, Cardinal Health (NYSE:CAH), Covidien (NYSE:COV), DeRoyal, Genicon, Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), Medline Industries and Teleflex (NYSE:TFX).
The deal encompasses a wide variety of endomechanical products including sutures, skin staples, endoscopic instruments and topical skin adhesives. Novation’s priority was to ensure "flexibility and product choice" to its surgeons, according to a press release. The agreement is slated to take effect April 1.

In a separate agreement, Novation beefed up an existing contract with CareStream Health for a new mobile X-ray system Carestream calls an "X-ray room on wheels." The deal also includes 4 other digital radography and imaging systems in the DRX product line.
Novation recently worked out a number of deals with cardiovascular medtech companies that took effect this month.
