Nihon Kohden (TYO:6849) said today that it has launched its new NKV-550 series ventilator system for all ages.
The Tokyo-based company said its new ventilator system offers a full suite of applications necessary in a critical care setting when treating patients from neonate through adult ages.
The NKV-550 features an integrated touchscreen, intuitive user interface and onscreen help functions. The ventilator is designed to transition between invasive ventilation, non-invasive ventilation and high-flow oxygen therapy to enable clinicians to respond to a patient’s respiratory needs without the need to change devices.
Respiratory therapists and clinicians also have the ability to view and adjust settings for the ventilator monitors and alarms using the NKV-550’s interface outside the isolation room when managing a patient with a communicable disease, protecting the clinician and the patient, according to the company.
The NK-550 is also designed to protect the lung with the Gentle Lung suite of applications that provide easy-to-use tools for the open-lung approach to ventilation.
“Every product we bring to market is designed to simplify workflow for clinicians and benefit patients,” Nihon Kohden America president & CEO Yasuhiro Yoshitake said in a news release. “We saw a tremendous need in the respiratory market for a comprehensive ventilator that could respond to any patient situation while also providing excellent usability using modern technology.”
