Aesthetic devices maker Cynosure (NSDQ:CYNO) won FDA clearance for its home-use anti-facial wrinkle device, the company reported today.
Developed in conjunction with consumer goods maker Unilever (NYSE:UL), the as-yet-unnamed device was cleared for over-the-counter sales in the U.S.
"FDA clearance of this device marks a significant milestone in our alliance with Unilever to develop light-based devices for the consumer market," Cynosure president & CEO Michael Davin said in prepared remarks. "Our strategic partnership with Unilever blends our expertise in developing market leading light-based technology that emphasizes patient safety and clinical results, with Unilever’s unparalleled innovation, branded marketing and distribution."
The companies, which signed a multi-year partnership agreement in 2009, plan to launch sales in 2013 for the system, which was cleared for periorbital and perioral wrinkles, according to a press release.
