GE Healthcare’s (NYSE:GE) this week touted a new FDA win for its latest in CT scanner technology, saying the Revolution* CT^ is the 1st of its kind that’s right for "every clinical specialty."
The healthcare giant landed 510(k) clearance to market the device as an all-in-one CT scanner for cardiology, oncology and neurology, saying the sedation-free imaging technology could play an important role for "sensitive" patient groups, such as pediatric, renal insufficiency, trauma and stroke patients.
The company is planning to launch global commercial efforts this summer, according to a press release.
"This will be the first CT scanner that’s right for physicians in every clinical specialty and provides answers from one CT exam," GE Healthcare president & CEO Steve Gray said in prepared remarks. "Revolution CT is able to scan even the most challenging patients, day in and day out, with remarkably clear images. It can also scan pediatric patients at very low doses. And, we made sure that using it is productive, logical, and intuitive."
GE Healthcare has had a spate of good news recently, with millions in Pentagon contracts and a other FDA wins in its pocket.
