Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) and Covidien (NYSE:COV) appointed a new team of leaders to manage their $43 billion mega-merger, naming nearly 20 people to oversee integration of the companies’ regional businesses.
The new regional leads, comprised of employees of both companies, will work with the functional/business teams to ease the transition as the two medtech titans transform into Medtronic Plc. Their appointments also grant them a trip to Switzerland for a regional "boot camp," Medtronic and Covidien said.
"The regional teams who we’re getting together with next week in Zurich, Switzerland, their main job […] is to make sure that we don’t disrupt the customer experience, the patient experience, the customer experience and our respective sales organizations as we bring the company together," Medtronic senior vice president and chief integration officer Geoff Martha said during a recent shareholder meeting. " At each region they’ll make sure that we have a very clear go to market strategy and that we do not disrupt our front end and our revenue. In addition to that, they’re going to need to work with the functional teams to set up the infrastructure in each country – and it’s a little different in each country how to support the business."
