NaviNet Inc. plans to expand its healthcare IT products with the buyout of mobile healthcare service provider Prematics Inc.
The Cambridge, Mass.-based healthcare communications company said the acquisition of Prematics will enable it to offer its patient information management system to healthcare provider’s handheld devices.
NaviNet plans to integrate the McLean, Va.-based company‘s mobile clinical messaging and e-prescribing services its Insurer Connect multi-payer portal, electronic medical records and practice management systems.
NaviNet said the integrated products will embed "mobile healthcare messaging and … clinical decision support into the e-prescribing workflow," allowing doctors to prescribe medications and at the same time receive information about generic or alternative drugs and view insurance benefits-related information.
Further details of the transaction were not disclosed.
