Medacta touts 1st MySpine guide procedures
Medacta said that the 1st surgeries using its 3D-printed MySpine Low Profile guide were successfully completed by Dr. Raymond Golish in Jupiter, Florida and Dr. Arnold Vardiman in San Antonio, Texas.
The company won 510(k) clearance from the FDA for the MySpine Low Profile guide in August. The system uses 3D-printed, patient-specific guides to help surgeons identify pedicle entry points, screw trajectories and implant specifications. Compared to the MySpine Standard profile, which was released in 2014, the Low Profile guide lowers exposure and creates a less invasive approach for degenerative and deformity surgeries of the thoracic and lumbar regions, according to Medacta.
