Nerseth, the former CEO of CMR Surgical — another surgical robot maker — brings more than three decades of global business experience. His most recent post was the corner office at CMR, where he took over in 2019 and also served on the board of directors. Supratim Bose succeeded Nerseth at CMR in March 2023.
Before CMR, Nerseth held multiple portfolios at ABB, a tech company based in Sweden and Switzerland. According to a news release, the steered business lines’ turnarounds and optimized the company for long-term strategic growth.
Zurich, Switzerland-based Nanoflex Robotics said Nerseth’s track record makes him a “crucial addition” to the company’s board. He brings a background of navigating complex markets and scaling cutting-edge technologies. The company hopes his expertise can help accelerate the development of its telerobotics system for treating acute ischemic stroke.
“We are thrilled to welcome Per Vegard to our board,” said Matt Curran, Nanoflex CEO. “His extensive leadership experience and deep understanding of complex regulatory markets will be invaluable to Nanoflex Robotics as we aim to complete our first-in-human procedures next year and commence clinical studies thereafter.”
Nanoflex develops a remote-ready robotic system with a compact magnetic field generator and a navigation control unit. The company announced the first U.S. installation of its system in March and hopes for a first-in-human procedure in 2025.
“I am honored to join the board of Nanoflex Robotics,” Nerseth said. “I admire the company’s big vision in developing a telerobotic platform to treat acute ischemic stroke and I look forward to contributing to the company’s future success and working with such a talented and dedicated team.”
