The company picked Davidson to lead commercialization efforts as it prepares for market entry with novel robotic technologies. San Mateo, California–based Mendaera develops a platform that includes robotics, AI, real-time imaging and virtual connectivity. The company designed it for accessibility across specialties and sites, helping to meet the growing demand for needle-based interventions.
Recently, Mendaera raised $73 million to further support its technology. The company also purchased the telepresence technology developed by Avail Medsystems last year, hiring employees from the now-shuttered company as well.
Davidson joins Mendaera with more than two decades of leadership in medical robotics and healthcare technologies. He spent nine years at surgical robot leader Intuitive, holding key leadership roles in marketing and product strategy. After his stint at Intuitive, Davidson served as VP of sales and marketing at Auris Health, the surgical robotics company acquired by Johnson & Johnson.
Following the acquisition, Davidson helped integrate Auris’ technology into J&J MedTech. He later served as president of the company’s Flexible Robotics division.
Most recently, he was president and COO of Eko Health, a company developing AI-powered stethoscope technology.
“I am thrilled to join Mendaera and its impressive team at this transformative time for the company and in healthcare,” said Davidson. “Mendaera’s robotic technology will arrive as healthcare systems face worsening labor challenges and seek solutions that can support providers and enhance access to care. I look forward to helping build a world-class organization that can deliver these crucial solutions to healthcare providers and patients.”
