Medtronic Inc.’s (NYSE:MDT) chief regulatory affairs officer Susan Alpert will join her boss, William Hawkins, on Retirement Row this year, according to company officials.
Alpert, who has held the senior vice president and chief regulatory officer positions at Medtronic since 2005, had a similar role at C.R. Bard (NYSE:BCR) before joining MDT and is also a former director of the FDA’s Office of Device Evaluation .
Spokesman Brian Henry confirmed Alpert’s retirement to MassDevice in an email, writing that she will step down as of the end of Medtronic’s fiscal year later this month.

Her knowledge of the industry, of regulatory agencies and of the importance of collaboration between the two for the benefit of patients, is unsurpassed," Henry told us. "Her guidance and counsel have been extremely valuable and we’re pleased that she plans to continue to offer both even in her retirement."
Henry said the Fridley, Minn.-based company has already tapped Alpert’s replacement, regulatory affairs vice president Patricia Shrader. Shrader, the former regulatory SVP at Becton, Dickinson & Co. (NYSE:BEC).
