U.S. district judge Sue Robinson ruled that Medtronic Inc.’s (NYSE:MDT) implantable defibrillators did not violate patents owned by Mirowski Family Ventures LLC and licensed to Natick, Mass.-based Boston Scientific Corp. (NYSE:BSX).
“We’re very pleased with the judge’s ruling,” Medtronic spokesman Christopher Garland said.
However, the Delaware federal judge denied Fridley, Minn.-based Medtronic’s request for a declaration stating that the patents are invalid.

The lawsuit, Medtronic Inc. v. Boston Scientific Corp., 07cv823, U.S. District Court for Delaware (Wilmington), was originally filed in 2007.
The patents expired in 2009.
