Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) said today that it’s launching a new sinus dilation system to go with its Fusion ENT navigation device.

Fridley, Minn.-based Medtronic said the NuVent EM device is the 1st and only balloon sinus dilation system with built-in electromagnetic navigation.

The company, which won 510(k) clearance from the FDA for the NuVent EM device in November 2013, said it’s planning clinical trials to expand the indications for NuVent’s use for other procedures including revision surgery.

"NuVent is very appealing to customers because of its novel built-in surgical EM navigation, ease of use, and the familiar sinus instrument styles," ENT division general manager Vince Racano said in prepared remarks. "This system is another example of our innovative integration of technologies and therapies that brings Medtronic Surgical Synergy to the operating room, driving procedural excellence, economic value, and patient care."
