Pure-play med-tech titan Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) will integrate its StealthStation surgical navigation system with NeuroLogica’s BodyTom portable CT scanner, the companies reported yesterday.
The combined products aim to improve surgical outcomes and accuracy for cranial neurosurgery procedures.
NeuroLogica’s BodyTom system is a full-body, 32-slice computed tomography scanner that can run on batteries and is compatible with all surgical navigation, electronic medical record and planning systems, according to a press release.
In March 2011 NeuroLogica touted FDA clearance for the BodyTom system and 1 year later the Danvers, Mass.-based company won CE Mark approval in the European Union.
That’s more good news for NeuroLogica, which late last year finally buried the hatchet in a lawsuit accusing sister firm Analogic Corp. of meddling with NeuroLogica’s acquisitions.
