MassDevice.com looked at some of the most talked-about medical device companies, based on trends in U.S. Google searches for the last 30 days.
There were some major changes in the popularity pyramid last month, although not major enough to unseat Medtronic (NYSE:MDT) as the undisputed leader of internet chatter. The Minnesota medtech giant came out with a slew of headlines, including an earlier FDA decision date for its CoreValve TAVI system, a promise to defend digital devices against malicious hacking and some wins and losses in the court room.
Rival medtech giant Boston Scientific’s (NYSE:BSX) leapt to 2nd place with layoffs and restructuring and an initial court date for the high-profile legal battle over pelvic mesh devices. Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ) jumped up a few seats to 3rd with a private equity battle over the company’s ortho clinical diagnostics arm and strong earnings for the company’s pharma division.
GE Healthcare (NYSE:GE) rejoined the list with a mixed bag for its Q3 earnings and the sale of its Centricity Lab unit, and Edwards Lifesciences (NYSE:EW) rounded out the top 5 with some news from its long-standing legal tussle with Medtronic and some news from TCT 25.
