The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid are looking for nominees to fill the 42 expiring memberships on the Medicare Evidence Development & Coverage Advisory Committee, according to an agency notice.
The agency needs both voting and non-voting members to fill seats expiring January 2013, and is asking for nominations for 2-year terms.
MEDCAC, formerly the Medicare Coverage Advisory Committee, evaluates medical literature, reviews technology assessments and examines data on medical items and services covered by Medicare or which may be covered by Medicare.
The committee develops technical advice to help CMS determine "reasonable and necessary" use of healthcare products and services, and may be asked to develop recommendations about specific Medicare coverage issues.
There are 3 seats open for non-voting industry representatives, and 39 for general membership, according to the HHS notice.
