3. ZipLine Medical adds $5.7m to Series C round
ZipLine Medical said it added a $5.7 million extension to its $4.3 million Series C round, with new investor China Materialia promising to help the company expand sales in the People’s Republic.
“This Series C extension allows us to further expand our sales and marketing activities to leverage the overwhelming support we are receiving from key opinion leaders among clinicians,” ZipLine CEO John Tighe said in prepared remarks. Read more
2. Ablative Solutions tests infusion ablation catheter as hypertension treatment
Ablative Solutions initiated a study in Poland to test an infusion catheter it believes can treat hypertension by interrupting signals from sympathetic nerves located in the outer layer of the renal artery.
The sympathetic nervous system governs the body’s “fight or flight” response to stimuli, with the counterbalancing parasympathetic nervous system which regulates “rest and digest” functions in the body. Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Ablative Solutions says interruption of sympathetic nerve pathways could help treat not just hypertension but also metabolic syndromes, congestive heart failure and obesity. 1. Medtronic’s new line of spinal implants drops
Medtronic said it’s introduced a new line of spinal implants made of a titanium-plastic combination for interbody fusion procedures.
The Pure Titanium Coating line includes 4 implants, according to a press release: The Capstone PTC, Clydesdale PTC, Anatomic PEEK PTC cervical fusion system and the Cornerstone-SR titanium-coated anatomical cervical cage. Read more
