3. Report: Bard’s Clearstream subsidiary adds 200 jobs in Ireland
C.R. Bard subsidiary Clearstream Technologies is reportedly adding 200 jobs after a 50,000-square-foot expansion at a plant in Ireland.
Clearstream, which makes angioplasty catheters and stents, has already added 100 jobs at its Enniscorthy, Ireland facility so far this year, according to the Wexford People newspaper. Read more
2. Diabetes: Intarcia inks $1B development deal with Servier
Intarcia Therapeutics said today that French pharmaceutical independent Servier agreed to a deal to commercialize Intarcia’s implantable diabetes pump that could be worth some $1 billion.
Intarcia is developing ITCA 650, a matchstick-sized, miniature osmotic pump inserted subcutaneously to deliver the drug exenatide for 1 year. Read more
1. Survey: Hospitals clamp down on medical device expenses
Most hospitals are using “resource utilization” programs to control their spend on expensive products like medical devices, according to a survey by group purchasing organization Premier.
The GPO said it surveyed 127 C-suite executives at 112 hospitals in 32 states last February as part of its spring 2014 Economic Outlook report. Read more
