3. FDA OKs MDT spinout Inspire Medical’s sleep apnea implant
About 7 years after spinning out of medtech titan Medtronic, Inspire Medical won FDA approval for its novel sleep apnea implant, a pacemaker-liked device designed to help keep airways open while patients sleep.

2. Hospitals may have to publish their prices
MASSDEVICE ON CALL — U.S. Medicare regulators want hospitals to open up about the prices they charge for their services. The agency issued a proposed order to require hospitals to publish price-lists, or make them available upon request.
The measure, prescribed by the Affordable Care Act, is the latest in a string of initiatives designed to increase healthcare transparency in the U.S. and give consumers the tools to make more informed choices about where they get their care. Read more
1. Endo Health posts Q1 loss on $830M AMS mesh settlement
Endo Health Solutions said it struck an $830 million deal to settle thousands of lawsuits over its American Medical Systems pelvic mesh products.
The deal would put some 20,000 product liability claims to rest with no admission of guilt, but it also pushed Endo into the red for the 1st quarter, the pharmaceutical and medical device maker said today. Read more
