3. Sharma out, Heinick in as Calhoun Vision CEO
Calhoun Vision said yesterday that it’s replacing CEO Verne Sharma with Rick Heinick, a former Bausch & Lomb executive who helped lead the firm until its acquisition by Valeant Pharmaceuticals in 2013.
Heinick’s résumé includes stints as executive vice president & chief human resources & transformation officer at Bausch & Lomb, executive vice president of construction firm Aecom and senior partner at Schaffer Consulting. He was also the founder & CEO of Personal Performance Software. Read more
2. MRI Interventions to shutter Memphis plant
MRI Interventions said it plans to shutter its plant in Memphis in May and lay off all the workers there as the consolidates in Irvine, Calif.
MRI Interventions makes MRI-guided devices for brain and heart procedures, including the ClearPoint brain electrode placement system. The company said it’s making the move West to “enhance executive communications, streamline processes related to the commercialization of the ClearPoint system, and reduce ongoing costs.” Read more
1. Philips mulls 2016 IPO for lighting biz as bidding war heats up
Royal Philips said it’s considering an initial public offering next year for its legacy lighting business, even as it reviews bids from private equity shops and a new suitor from Asia.
“The separation is currently intended to be effectuated through an initial public offering, but other options will continue to be reviewed,” the Dutch conglomerate said. A shareholders meeting is scheduled for May 7. Read more
