3. HeartFlow raises $36m for non-invasive FFR system
HeartFlow said it raised more than $35.8 million, 2 months after gaining FDA clearance for its non-invasive fractional flow reserve test to diagnose and treat coronary artery disease.
The Redwood City, Calif.-based company is seeking to raise a total of $46.3 million from the equity round, according to a regulatory filing. Read more
2. Pelvic mesh lawsuits: Boston Scientific wants 700 Philly cases sent to federal court
Boston Scientific wants some 700 product liability lawsuits filed over its pelvic mesh products removed from a Philadelphia court to the federal court in West Virginia that’s overseeing the multi-district litigation involving Boston and several other pelvic mesh makers.
A year and a day ago Judge Arnold New, director of the Complex Litigation Center at the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas, ordered that “all currently filed pelvic mesh matters shall be transferred to the Complex Litigation Center Pelvic Mesh Mass Tort Program” for coordination. Read more
1. Report: Medical device tax credit bill moves ahead in Minnesota
A bill that would extend a credit to medical device companies in Minnesota to cover the medical device tax reportedly passed a North Star State House committee.
The medical device tax, a 2.3% excise levy on all U.S. sales of prescribed medical devices, went into effect at the beginning of 2013 as part of Obamacare. The tax has been the object of a repeal movement among national legislators, and states like Minnesota and Massachusetts with large medtech contingents are exploring credits to offset the tax.
