3. Covidien recalls Trellis clot-busting devices on labeling snafu
Medtronic subsidiary Covidien issued a Class I recall of its Trellis 6 and Trellis 8 clot-busting infusion devices due to a labeling snafu.
The Trellis devices are designed to isolate blood clots between a pair of catheterized balloons; medication is then injected into the space between the balloons to dissolve the clot or reduce it for removal, the FDA said. Read more
2. FDA warns Staar Surgical again over California plant
Staar Surgical said that it received another warning from the FDA over documentation problems at its plant in Monrovia, Calif.
The federal safety watchdog inspected the Monrovia facility from Nov. 14 last year through Feb. 4, finding 10 problems with the way Staar documents product changes and other issues, the company said in a regulatory filing. Read more
1. J&J’s DePuy Synthes buys Olive Medical for hi-def surgery system
Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Synthes subsidiary said it acquired Olive Medical and its high-definition arthroscopy visualization system for an undisclosed amount.
Salt Lake City-based Olive Medical’s platform is designed to provide hi-def images for surgeons during arthroscopy procedures, according to a press release. Read more
