3. Delphinus raises nearly $40m for SoftVue breast ultrasound
Delphinus Medical Technologies said that it raised a $39.5 million Series C round led by Venture Investors for its SoftVue whole breast ultrasound system.
Proceeds from the round, which was joined by new investors Hopen Life Science Ventures and Waycross Ventures and existing backers Arboretum Ventures, Beringea, and North Coast Technology Investors, are slated for regulatory and commercialization expenses as Plymouth Township, Mich.-based Delphinus looks to get SoftVue on the market. 2. IBM snags ex-Philips Healthcare CEO DiSanzo
International Business Machine said ex-Royal Philips Healthcare CEO Deborah DiSanzo has joined up as general manager of its new Watson Health unit.
The unit, headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., brings new cloud-based services under the IBM Watson Health moniker and will grow existing services and relationships with companies like Johnson & Johnson and Medtronic. Read more

Venture capital firm New Enterprise Associates said it picked up ex-Medtronic executive veep Dr. Stephen Oesterle as a venture partner for the firm.
Prior to being an executive veep for the medical giant, Oesterle served as senior veep of medicine and technology, and served as a member of the executive committee for 14 years, according to NEA. Read more
