2. Sequana Medical adds $9m for Alfapump implantable pump
Sequana Medical said that it added $9.3 million to the $26 million Series C round it raised last year, as it readies for a U.S. clinical trial of its Alfapump implantable pump.
Zurich-based Sequana said existing backers NeoMed Management, VI Partners, Biomed Invest, Capricorn Health-tech Fund, Entrepreneurs Fund and Life Science Partners put up $5.5 million. New investors Salus Partners and Quest for Growth put in another $3.8 million, the company said. Read more
1. European regulators recommend suspension of Medtronic’s Inductos
European regulators recommended the suspension of Medtronic’s Inductos bone growth product after inspections in July found problems with a U.S. plant that makes part of the implant.
The European Medicines Agency recommended that the suspension be put in place until the problems are resolved. Dutch and Spanish inspectors found that the sponge manufacturer “did not have adequate measures in place to prevent particle contamination of the sponges,” the EMA said. Read more
