3. AdvaMed confirms ex-BIO COO Whitaker is new CEO
AdvaMed, the national lobby for the medical device industry, confirmed that it tapped the chief operating officer at BIO, Scott Whitaker, to be its new CEO.

An FDA advisory panel recommended deep, long-term surveillance of the leadless pacemakers being developed by the 4 leading companies in the cardiac rhythm management space.
Medtronic, St. Jude Medical, Boston Scientific and Biotronik are all developing versions of a leadless pacemaker designed to be implanted directly into the heart’s right ventricle, eschewing the need for the leads used in conventional pacers. Read more
1. Johnson & Johnson loses another pelvic mesh suit
A federal jury in Georgia deliberated for 3 hours before delivering a another loss to Johnson & Johnson in a product liability lawsuit brought over pelvic mesh products.
The jury in the U.S. District Court for Middle Georgia awarded plaintiff Teresa Taylor $400,000 in compensatory damages and $4 million in punitive damages after finding that the Mentor ObTape transobdturator vaginal sling she had implanted in March 2014 caused her injuries. Read more
