"We see these agreements as a critical part of our business, with GPOs contributing nearly 70 percent of our current revenue," said Maquet’s president of sales Raoul Quintero in prepared remarks. "We remain fully committed to building these valuable partnerships to strengthen in-hospital presence of our cardiovascular products."
Premier has been in a contract-signing frenzy since Medtronic Inc.’s (NYSE:MDT) headline-making, Wall Street-pleasing decision to cut several contracts worth an estimated $2 billion a year for its cardiovascular and orthopedic products with Irving, Texas-based GPO Novation in February.
Last week, Premier signed a two-year dealwith Unilife Corp. (NSDQ:UNIS) for the supply of its Unitract 1mL safety syringes. Earlier this year, the GPO inked contracts with med-tech giants Covidien (NYSE:COV), Medline Industries and Siemens AG (NYSE:SI).
