Lantos Technologies lit up $5.1 million of a hoped-for $18.8 million funding round for its 3D ear canal-mapping device, according to a regulatory filing.
The Wakefield, Mass.-based company reported that 18 un-named investors joined the equity and options round.
Lantos won 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its 3D ear canal imaging device, designed to enhance the design of customized hearing aids, in April.
Initially developed at the Mass. Institute of Technology, the Lantos device uses ultrasound to create a 3D image of the ear canal and is designed to obviate the need for silicon molding of the canal.
Lantos Technologies reeled in $1.6 million in a Series A round in 2010, adding $4.1 million and a new CEO in August 2011.
