Kindara raises $5 million for ovulation thermometer app

August 20, 2015 By Fink Densford

kindara-1x1Women’s health and fertility device company Kindara said yesterday it has raised $5.3 million in seed funding, including conversion of $1.9 million in convertible notes.

The round was led by Boston Seed Capital and joined by SOSV, Good Works Ventures, PV Ventures, Mena Venture Investments and 62 Mile Ventures, according to the company.

Funds from the round are slated to aid Boulder, Colo.-based Kindara in extending their platform to cover a wider range of women’s health concerns and to finalize manufacturing of its Wink bluetooth connected basal thermometer.

“Healthcare is changing rapidly right now. Women want to understand their bodies and use that knowledge to make informed decisions about their reproductive health. The Kindara platform gives them an unprecedented level of insight, support and empowerment when making decisions around achieving or avoiding pregnancy.  This recent round of funding will allow us to extend our lead in this movement and expand beyond fertility to provide lifetime support for women’s health and wellness,” CEO Will Sacks said in a press release

Kindara’s flagship product is the Kindara fertility tracker mobile application for Apple (NSDQ:AAPL) iOS devices and Google (NSDQ:GOOG) android devices.

The application will sync with the upcoming Kindara Wink basal thermometer, and provides users with fertility information. The company said the Wink is slated to be released at the end of this year.

“Women’s health is important on a global scale, and we’re proud and excited to be leading this investment in Kindara. The future of healthcare is personalized, participatory and mobile, and we’re proud to be helping Kindara radically evolve our knowledge of women’s health and fertility,” Boston Seed Capital partner Dave Balter said in prepared remarks.
