Karl Storz North America and Smith+Nephew today announced a partnership aimed at delivering complementary surgical visualization solutions.

The companies hope to support hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) with their joint offerings. They plan to collaborate to align Smith+Nephew’s sports medicine portfolio with Karl Storz’s visualization, video management and operating room (OR) integration technologies.

Through their effort, Smith+Nephew and Karl Storz aim to support ORs and ASCs — especially multispecialty environments. They plan to deliver advanced visualization solutions in common settings for sports medicine and other surgical procedures.

Karl Storz offers expertise across advanced visualization technologies, including 3D imaging and near-infrared fluorescence (NIR/ICG). Smith+Nephew, an orthopedic device giant, offers a strong foundation in sports medicine. That includes solutions for joint repair, biologics, cartilage repair, RF technology, mechanical resection and fluid management.

Together, the companies aim to enhance workflows, efficiencies and clinical confidence across a range of surgical procedures.

As part of the collaboration, the companies plan to approach the market together where appropriate. They expect to align strengths through flexible, scalable solutions for modern surgical care.

Karl Storz’s surgical offerings include technology like the CollaboratOR portfolio and surgical robotics platforms from Asensus.
