Johnson & Johnson plans to rebrand Shockwave Medical on Oct. 1, the device and drug developer said.
“Shockwave Medical will be rebranded to Johnson & Johnson MedTech, and our technologies will be known as circulatory restoration solutions,” Shockwave said on LinkedIn today. “Although our name and color may be changing, our commitment to cardiovascular innovation remains.”
The Shockwave name will live on in the name of its products, J&J MedTech tells MassDevice.
It’s the latest rebranding in recent years for the world’s second-largest medical device company.

J&J rebranded its Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices business as Johnson & Johnson MedTech in 2022 and dropped its 136-year-old corporate logo in 2023 while rebranding its drug business from Janssen Pharmaceutical Cos. of Johnson & Johnson to Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine.

J&J purchased purchased Shockwave for $13.1 billion in May 2024.
The intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) developer’s sale was one of the biggest medical device industry deals in recent years, and could one day help J&J surpass Medtronic as the world’s largest medical device company, as ranked by revenue on the Medical Design & Outsourcing Medtech Big 100 list.
