
With a newly minted CE Mark in hand, Codman Neuro – an orthopedics company under Johnson & Johnson’s (NYSE:JNJ) DePuy Synthes division – touted its Revive SE clot removal device today at a an interventional neurosurgery & neuroradiology event in Paris, France.
Revive SE is designed to restore blood flow to the brain during acute ischemic stroke, with "next-generation" features, such as a new strut that lowers force needed to track the device through a micro-catheter, the company said.
The device was designed to meet physician demand for more sophisticated navigation in in clot removal technologies, according to a press release.
"Clinicians told us enhanced navigation was important to them and we have responded with the next generation REVIVE SE," Codman Neuro worldwide president P. Laxmin Laxminarain said in prepared remarks.
Versions of Revive SE have been available in Europe since 2011, but the device is not yet on the U.S. market.
