Inverness Medical Innovations Inc. will begin selling a rapid diagnostic test for Clostridium difficile associated disease developed by TechLab Inc.
The Blacksburg, Va.-based diagnostics developer, a 1989 spinoff from Virginia Tech’s Anaerobe Laboratory, developed the in vitro diagnostic to detect CDAD, a highly infectious cause of severe diarrhea and colitis that can kill elderly or immune-compromised patients.
The federal Food & Drug Administration recently cleared TechLab to make the C. Diff Quik Chek Complete test, which reveals results in 30 minutes, for the Waltham-based diagnostics maker.
