
Carotid stent developer InspireMD (Nasdaq:NSPR) announced today that it appointed Dan Dearen to its board of directors.
Dearen, a longtime medtech veteran, notably served as co-founder, president and CFO of Axonics. He joins fellow Axonics co-founder and former CEO, Raymond Cohen, on the InspireMD board. Axonics was acquired by Boston Scientific for $3.7 billion last year.

According to a news release, Dearen has nearly 40 years of leadership experience in the medical device and life sciences sector. His track record includes guiding medtech companies through critical financial milestones and delivering shareholder value.

Dearen retired from his post as CFO at Axonics in 2023. Until last year, he served as chair on the audit committee and as a board member at Endotronix. He also holds the same roles at JenaValve and Beta Bionics. Before co-founding Axonics, Dearen held the post of COO and CFO of Vessix Vascular before Boston Scientific acquired it in 2012.

InspireMD received FDA premarket approval for its CGuard Prime carotid stent in June. The embolic prevention stent (EPS) system utilizes the company’s MicroNet technology for strong acute results and durable, stroke-free, long-term outcomes.
