The companies entered into a three-year deal for the Smith+Nephew negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) system and supplies. Smith+Nephew launched the Renasys Edge system in the U.S. in April.
Renasys Edge has a user-friendly interface with step-by-step guidance for therapy application as well. Smith+Nephew offers technical support with a near-field communication feature that requires just one click. The company also provides 24-hour customer support for patients and a clinical hotline. The lightweight, compact system features a discreet canister and users can easily carry or wear it. It also operates quietly so it doesn’t draw attention or disturb daily activities.
Under the distribution agreement, Infusystem will offer the Renasys Edge system as a home-based care system for chronic wounds.
“Based on our more than 800 in-network health insurance providers covering over 96% of the U.S. population and our well-established and trusted service capabilities, Smith+Nephew approached InfuSystem to assist them as a secondary distribution partner for their Renasys Edge system,” said Richard DiIorio, CEO of InfuSystem. “We are excited about this new partnership, that will leverage InfuSystem’s unique Patient Services platform to deliver customized solutions.
“InfuSystem’s ability to wrap its high-value services around our partners’ products will quickly benefit and attract new revenue opportunities for both companies and more importantly giving more patients increased access to the new Renasys Edge technology.”
