William Sutton took up the new position in December and relocated to Hansen Medical‘s (NSDQ:HNSN) West Coast office. Most recently, Sutton was vice president of R&D of St. Jude Medical‘s (NYSE:STJ) atrial fibrillation division. He’s also a veteran of Vascular Solutions (NSDQ:VASC), Urologix (NSDQ:ULGX), C.R. Bard (NYSE:BCR) and Abbott (NYSE:ABT).

Darren Black was named a managing partner and Tom Flynn was named partner and venture capital shop SV Life Sciences. Black joined the company in 2003 and will specialize in healthcare services. Flynn joined in 2011 and works in post-acute care delivery and healthcare IT.

Dr. Ernesto Paolasso dies in a motorcycle accident
A pioneer of clinical cardiology research, Dr. Ernesto Paolasso founded the 1st formal research organization for cardiac trials in Argentina and conducted the 1st randomized controlled trial for acute MI in his native country. Paolasso worked at the Institute of Clinical Investigations of Rosario, Argentina. He was buried in a private ceremony Jan. 27.

Solta Medical sales veep steps down
William Brodie, former VP of global sales for medical aesthetics company Solta Medical (NSDQ:SLTM), resigned last month. His role will be absorbed by the current president and CEO Stephen Fanning. Solta regulatory filings did not state a reason for Brodie’s resignation. He will consult with the company during a 90-day transition.
