The U.S. Defense Dept. said it awarded Hamilton Medical a $37.4 million contract for ventilation systems.
The contract, expected to end in 2018, calls for the Swiss ventilation device maker to deliver from its catalogue of 118 ventilation systems and related accessories, according to a press release.
It’s a big win for Bonaduz, Switzerland-based Hamilton, which in February recalled some systems over a software issue. The Class I recall involved concerns that the Hamilton-T1 ventilators had a software glitch that could harm pediatric patients.
At the time of the recall, Hamilton was working on new software and was making arrangements to swap out any affected ventilation systems with loaners, while the software was being updated.
