GPO goliath Premier healthcare alliance inked a new deal with North Billerica, Mass.-based Lantheus Medical Imaging Inc. for its cardiac ultrasound contrast media.
The contract is another in a slew of vocal supply deals by the GPO giant.
The new agreement, effective December 1, 2011, includes Lantheus’s Definity ultrasound contrast agent and Ablavar magnetic resonance angiography imaging agent.
"These products are innovative diagnostic tools that assist clinicians in the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases and help answer critical clinical questions to make improved patient management decisions," Lantheus president & CEO Don Keipert said in prepared remarks. "We look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with Premier and providing member physicians with access to these important imaging agents."
Premier has been in a contract-signing frenzy since Medtronic’s (NYSE:MDT) headline-making, Wall Street-pleasing decision to cut several contracts worth an estimated $2 billion a year for its cardiovascular and orthopedic products with Novation in February.
