

Two of the hospital industries leading group purchasing organizations announced a flurry of supply deals with medical device companies for wound care and hand held surgical instruments Thursday.
Premier, the Charlotte, N.C.-based GPO with 2,600 U.S. hospitals and 84,000-plus other healthcare sites, said it has entered into distribution deals for wound care drainage products with four medical device companies including Cardinal Health (NYSE:CAH),C.R. Bard (NYSE:BCR), Medline Industries and Surgimed Corp, effective as of August 1st.
Novation also announced a slew of agreements with companies in the hand held surgical instruments market.
The Irving, TX.-based GPO said it has awarded deals to Aesculap, CareFusion (NYSE:CFN), Integra LifeSciences (NSDQ:IART), Symmetry Medical (NYSE:SMA) and HNM Medical.
Novation, which represents 65,000 members in the VHA Inc., UHC, Children’s Hospital Association, and Provista LLC systems, said the contracts are effective October 1, 2012.
